We do this by stockpiling sand from offshore borrow areas and transporting it by truck to rebuild dunes.

Muck Removal

Provides a clean start. Sea & Shoreline has both the equipment and expertise to handle large- and small-scale muck removal projects.

Muck that sits on the bottom of a body of water results from organic debris settling there. This sludge can be a mixture of leaves, fish waste, decaying plants, dead algae, and debris washed into the water by storms and rain runoff. Often, when a lake becomes overgrown with nuisance vegetation, herbicide treatments leave behind a thick layer of muck and nutrients that fuel algal blooms. Watershed experts agree that physically removing muck and excess nutrients from the water, and planting non-invasive native plants, are the best ways to maintain clean water and support biodiversity.

Oyster Reefs

Sea & Shoreline handles all aspects of oyster reef creation from idea inception to the finished oyster reef project.

An oyster filters 50 gallons of water every day! Oysters provide a valuable ecosystem service by serving as “vacuum cleaners”, filtering particles from water and improving water quality. Oyster reefs also provide natural protection from storms and act as a barrier for wave energy.

Sediment tubes repair propeller scars. Sea & Shoreline’s sediment tubes fill propeller scars to prevent further erosion and serve as a foundation for seagrass growth. These tubes deteriorate over time, and seagrass recolonizes the scars. When left alone, these scars can take up to two decades to naturally recover. With the help of sediment tubes, recovery can happen in as little as one year.

Our nursery features a variety of native aquatic species, including Seashore Paspalum, an excellent ground cover for high pH, hydric soils, and saline conditions.
