Carter Henne, co-founder and CEO of Sea & Shoreline, has dedicated his career to environmental stewardship since growing up in Central Florida.
A University of South Florida graduate with a B.S. in Biology, Carter began his career at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Stock Enhancement Facility, where he reared fish and crustaceans for wild release. He then joined Seagrass Recovery Inc., advancing from field technician to Chief Science Officer and Project Manager, leading numerous seagrass restoration projects.
Since co-founding Sea & Shoreline in 2014, Carter has directed dozens of aquatic restoration projects across Florida. His expertise spans seagrass aquaculture, biological monitoring, permitting, and hydrology — including transforming algae-dominated ecosystems into healthy, plant-based ones — earning him wide recognition in the scientific community
Jim Anderson is a Ruskin, Florida native with a lifelong dedication to land and water stewardship.
Jim spent 35 years as owner of Anderson & Son Nursery, a 200-acre native turf farm specializing in commercial and residential landscaping and native plant production. That agricultural expertise became the foundation for his work in seagrass restoration, when his favorite local fishing area was closed due to propeller scarring. Determined to find a solution, he adapted farming tools and techniques to develop innovative restoration technologies now used across projects of varying scales.
In 2014, Jim founded Sea & Shoreline, LLC. He has since led one of the largest seagrass mitigation projects in Florida, relocating 7 acres of seagrass at Port Manatee over just 8 months. His work continues to bridge traditional agriculture and aquafarming, making a lasting impact on Florida’s coastal environments.
